Kuswata Kartawinata, fondly known as “Kus,” was born in Garut, Indonesia, on June 3, 1936. A devout Muslim, he is married to Jenny Ardantiningsih. His passion for knowledge and science, especially in botany, ecology, and forest taxonomy, shaped his illustrious career.
Early Education and Inspiration
Kuswata’s childhood dream was to become an engineer, a goal fueled by his aptitude for science and mathematics. After completing high school in Bandung (1955), he enrolled at the Biology Academy in Ciawi, Bogor, graduating in 1959.
